Man in court over road rage

A MAN will appear in a Gold Coast court today charged over a road rage incident in which he allegedly bashed a man in the head with a hammer.
Police said the incident happened after two cars collided on Hinkler Drive at Highland Park shortly before 1pm (AEST) yesterday.
Both vehicles stopped and one of the drivers allegedly took out a hammer, smashed the windscreen of the other car and bashed the driver.
He was treated for head injuries in Gold Coast Hospital.
A 26-year-old man was charged with dangerous driving, wilful damage, acts intended to maim, disfigure or disable, and assault occasioning bodily harm whilst armed.
He will appear in Southport Magistrates Court today.
